Chapter 11 Six Days samantha Fuller
scene 1. In chapter 11 Greg Mortenson is getting use to life since getting home from Pakistan. In the previous chapter Greg's girlfriend who he thought was the love of his life broke up with him and he was lost in the world feeling so alone. She pops back up into his life in chapter 11 when she tries to get him back, but Greg realizes that he doesn't need her in his life anymore. He stated “The door is closed” proving to himself that she would out of his life for good.
I thought this was an important scene because Greg was in a bad state after getting back from Pakistan and having his girlfriend break up with him. He felt alone and going no where with no job and no where to stay. It was a big step for him to get over it and know that he was going somewhere in life not having the guilt or heartbreak hanging over his head.
scene 2. Greg had finally gotten some progress in Pakistan and Jean Hoerni wanted to see the bridge he helped provide. So Greg headed off to Seattle to present the pictures he hoped Jean would like. Jeans reaction was key to his success he loved how goofy Greg was, also that he was a free agent working on his own for the better good. He appreciated Gregs hard work willing to do something so hard and not give up.
This scene is important because of the fact that Greg was trying so hard to please Jean and put his money to good use. The reaction of Jean was key for Gregs continuing success in Pakistan in the years to come. For Jeans tough state of mind the kind things he said about Greg was probably more important to him than any other complements he's received for his work in Pakistan.
Scene 3. Greg went to a fundraising dinner where he met Tara. They started talking quietly realizing how many things they had in common fell in love as quickly as they met. They knew each other for 6 days before making the leap to get married. Greg knew she was the one.
I think this scene is important because Greg really needs someone who can support him, and not leave him no matter how long he is gone in Pakistan. I think that Tara is a good character which complements to Greg's personality, she wont be the one to walk out when it gets tough. She's willing to fight through the tough times because she loves him, no matter how long they've known each other.
